Identification Markings & Notes
 
In 1977, Class 50 006 (later named Neptune) entered Doncaster Works to serve as the primary testbed for the fleet's major refurbishment program, the locomotive
remained at "The Plant" for an extended period to trial modifications designed to solve chronic reliability issues.
50 006 emerged with a blanking plate where the headlight would be later fitted at Laira.
